Lee County Jail List Overview

The Lee County Sheriff's Office runs the county jail and posts the public list of who is held there. The list is a PDF titled the Current Inmate List, linked from the Lee County Sheriff's Office jail page. It is generated on a date stamped at the top and refreshed from time to time, so the count you see is a snapshot from that moment. It is not a live database and it does not refresh as you watch.

The sheriff's page shown above is the front door to jail custody information. The county list covers people held at the Lee County Jail only. It does not show sentenced state prisoners, federal inmates, or people in immigration custody. For those, the state and federal locators below take over. A released person also falls off the list at once, since the file is only the people housed when it is built.

How to Use the Lee County Inmate List

What the Lee County Jail List Shows

The current list is deliberately sparse. The table below describes each column on the file so you know what to expect before you open it. There are no filters, tabs, or profile links to click.

That is the whole file. No mugshot, charge, bond, housing unit, or court date appears on the current list. The jail page is also clear that it does not give out court-date information at all.

The Lee County Arrest Summary Report

Practical Search Scenarios in Lee County

• Need bond or release detail: check the court record and call the Circuit Clerk, since release rules changed in 2023.
• Need a booking photo: the list and summary show none, so a records request is the route.

Keep one rule in mind. Not found on the current list does not mean not in custody. It can mean the person was released, moved to court, sent to prison, or simply booked after the file was made. That is why the search so often jumps from the county list to the court, state, or federal channels rather than ending at the PDF.

Booking Process in Lee County

An arrest by the sheriff or a city police department leads to booking when custody is required. At intake, staff record the name, birth date, address, booking number, and arrest details. A search and property inventory follow, then medical and mental-health screening. The 2024 state inspection noted on-site nursing and mental-health coverage at the jail. Only after booking does a person appear on the next current list.

After intake, staff classify and house the person under the state county jail standards, which set separation and housing rules even though the public list does not name housing units. A first court appearance follows, where a judge addresses the charges, counsel, and whether the person is released or detained. The jail plays no part in setting those court dates.

The court side begins soon after. The jail does not set or share court dates and tells people to use the county court portal or call the Circuit Clerk instead. Illinois also changed pretrial release in 2023. Cash bail ended on September 18, 2023, and a prosecutor may now file a petition to deny pretrial release. Visitation Hours and Rules

The Lee County Jail uses Combined Public Communications for phone service and for both on-site and remote video visits. Accounts are set up through the InmateSales portal, and visits are scheduled in advance. On-site public video visits run on weekends, while remote video is available almost every day. The schedule below follows the jail page.

One public on-site video visit per weekend is allowed, and it must be booked at least 24 hours ahead. Remote video pauses for two short windows each day, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Bring valid photo ID, arrive about 15 minutes early, and remember that anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian present.

How to Contact a Lee County Inmate

Mail goes to the person by name at the Lee County Jail, 240 East Progress Drive, Dixon, IL 61021. Every letter needs a return name and address or it is thrown out. All mail is inspected, the jail does not pass along personal messages, and mail from someone barred by an order of protection is not delivered. A person may receive up to seven photos by mail as long as they are not Polaroids and do not show alcohol or drug use, gang signs, or lewd content.

For phone, Combined Public Communications is the provider, with customer service at 866-340-7879. People in custody can make collect calls to landlines, can call cell phones when the other party pays right away by card or sets up an account, and can use commissary funds for calls. Every call is recorded and monitored. The same provider handles the video visits, so a single account can cover both calls and on-site or remote visits.

Commissary and Inmate Funds

Money for a person in the Lee County Jail runs through Stellar Commissary Services and JailATM. You can deposit cash or use a card at the vestibule kiosk, send funds online through JailATM, or mail a money order made out to the inmate.
